The post for last night was actually yesterday and should have been posted on the 9th, just that i only finished it after midnight !! so wht's new hey !!
anyway today the actual 10th we were up at 8am or so had some breakfast, and then left for the Grand Canyon which was about 1 and half hours away - it seemed like a long way as it is the same scenery on the way and seemed to take ages to get there.
wow Floss what a difference in the numbers of people compared to when were there - they say they get about 5.5 million visitors a year to the canyon - so you can imagine that it took nearly 20- 30 minutes to find a parking spot in the massive 3 car parks. AND it took us nearly an hour to find the car when we were finished our visit.
It is spectacular in real life, and after having seen the Fish River Canyon in Namibia which is the 2nd largest after the Grand Canyon one realises how much bigger it really is and in fact it is difficult to see the river at the bottom.
Harv i think was a bit dissapointed after seeing some photos of the canyon, however having said that he is very nervous of heights and especially near the edge, so would hardly stand near the fence which is quite secure - so in fact he probably does not quite see the full effect of the canyon.
there were many youngsters and foreign africans/orientals that climb over the fence and stand on the bare rockes near the edge with no safety railing behind them just for pictures !! silly, and when i spoke to one of the park rangers he said that they had been lucky this year which means they had no fatalities or jumpers so far.
he said that they were just stupid, but that it was impossible to build fences and barriers around everything !!
We had a look at the shop took lots of photos of the canyon view, had an ice cream and then tried to find the car which was tiring.
on the way back we went past the Airport which we have done each time so we know where it is and the layout etc, checked the return area for car rentals and in fact this time checked ourselves in for seating as we fly at 10.20 tomorrow to Phoenix which is a 30 minute flight, but Phoenix to Orlando is probably at least 4 hours so we needed to sit on the aisle so we can get up and walk around, especially Harv.
we then or should i say Neill did the washing again while i tried to catch up with the e mails and blog.
we had a quicke supper and are busy packing and trying to get to bed early, at least i am still finishing this and then quickly pack, Neill ios already in bed and i hope to follow soon.
